The dessert table could be put in place of a cake or you could have it as a part of your wedding décor. You will be surprised how well placed food could make for a great wedding accent. A dessert table is one of the wedding accents that draw people in right away. Pretty colors, decadent sweets and a beautiful layout are sure to catch the eyes of your guest.

A few things to keep in mind before you set up your fabulous dessert table for your outdoor ceremony.

Make sure you keep in mind of the outside temperature so you can take the appropriate measures to keep your sweet treats from melting.
If you are having kids at or in your wedding, you may want to have someone keep an eye out for the dessert table. We wouldn’t want to little to make a mess.
If you or your groom want to taste a certain dessert and you have more than enough to display for your guest, feel free to take one sweet treat aside and hide it. If not, the night will come and go and you wouldn’t have gotten a taste of your dessert.

Choose the Perfect Veil for Your Outdoor Wedding

There are so many unique styles to choose from when selecting your perfect wedding veil. The variety of materials, designs, and decorative details available may be a bit overwhelming, especially for what may seem to be an insignificant part of your extravagant event. However, a veil can be a vital part of your wedding apparel, whether you are selecting a veil for religious reasons or for its pure beauty. Here are a couple of things to take into consideration when selecting your veil:

Length
Fullness
Fabric
Decorative Details

Depending on the style of your dress, your face shape, hair length, and your individual preference, the variety of veils available for you to choose from are innumerable. If you know ahead of time what you are looking for, specifically considering these four details, then finding your perfect wedding veil will be a piece of cake!

For an outdoor wedding you may want to consider a veil of shorter length. A long veil can be elegant and beautiful, especially when delicately flowing behind you in the natural breeze, but your wedding day weather may not be “picture perfect” and a long veil would certainly interfere. You may prefer a thin, light fabric for your wedding veil, but for an outdoor wedding consider selecting a slightly heavier fabric, like chiffon. The fuller, heavier fabric will stay in its place better than a finer fabric such as bridal tulle. Also, you may want to consider selecting a veil with decorative jewels or diamonds around the edges or at the bottom, which will assist in holding the veil in its place throughout the ceremony.

If you are a DIY bride and have the time and creativity, try making your own wedding veil. First, decide on your veil’s length, fullness, fabric, and style. Here is what you will need:

Scissors
Small veil comb (or tiara with comb)
Fabric glue
Needle, thread
Fabric (of your choice, most commonly soft tulle)
Embellishments (diamonds,ribbon, lace, jewels, pearls)

Some sample measurments:

Shoulder-length veil: cut 24 inches of fabric
Waist-length veil: 32 inches
Fingertip-length veil: 40 inches

Step 1: Measure fabric to your desired length, fold the fabric in half, and cut.

Step 2: Sew your finished edges—add lace, ribbon, or other elegant trim (if desired).

Step 3: Add your embellishments—add diamond or jewels with fabric glue.

Step 4: Gather the veil together at the top and sew it into the comb using a needle and thread with a running stitch.

Be sure to try your veil on, see that it lays properly, and that you are happy with the placement of each of your embellishments. Finally, your perfect, personalized veil is complete!

In the wedding industry many tren ds are constan t ly evolving and there are always many ways to impress your wedding guest. Everything from immaculate venues, to the top notch cakes to the gorgeous wedding dress. Yes those things are sure to make your weddin g event a big hit but today we are talking about the smaller touches that are guaranteed to wow your wedding guest.

A Jaw Dropping Exit

After your wedding ceremony you will be on cloud 9, so I say keep riding the wave and go out with a bang! Create your own mini-parade and make sure your hostess pass out sparklers, rose petals, confetti and/or bird seeds to make your day extra spectacular. You could also get a couple of trumpet players to end your exit on a high note.

Switch It Up!

While this may be costly to some I do have two different ideas, so hear me out. Make a grand entrance to your wedding reception in a totally different dress from your wedding. The dress doesn’t have to be expensive but it should be fun and flirty. It’s your wedding receptions so have a little fun. For those of you brides who are like me, very economical, you could switch up your hair style, your jewelry, your shoes or add a sash. Whatever you do make sure you add some pizazz–that alone will make your guest say: Wow!

Leave Your Signature

No, not that signature! It’s your wedding day, so you and your groom should allow your guest to embrace your personality by serving up a signature drink that represents you. You could go with mojitos because you guys may be huge fans of Spanish cuisine. Or you could do a white Russian because it is always your go to drink. Many future brides go with certain drinks because they are colorful and accent their décor. You want to make sure that you have the bartender who will be making your drinks allow you to have an opportunity to having a signature drink tasting. If you don’t drink alcohol, you can always do a non-alcoholic beverage. It’s your day and what you say goes. Ultimately, you want to make sure this drink is very well made and that it represents the newlyweds.

Boy, I’m Hungry!

If you are having an evening wedding reception, many of your guests will have danced their food and then night away and it will be a great surprise if you have semi-late night snacks for them. You could provide mini burgers, mini pizza round and my favorite chips and salsa. Trust me, this will be sure to put a smile on your wedding guests face.

Make the Night Memorable!

What better way to make the night memorable than to have a fireworks show after your wedding reception? Or you could also look into renting a confetti cannon, this will be sure to end one of the most memorable nights of your life with a bang.

I hope that many of our 2010 brides have already begun their wedding dress shopping but I know there are a few late shoppers out there, so without further ado here are the Hottest Wedding Dress Styles of 2010.

All About Layers and Shorter Hems

Many brides are going for dresses with Tiered Skirts. Any material from tulle, chiffon and organza will be a hot wedding trend in 2010. This style is perfect for the soft and romantic bride. While some brides like the longer hems, some like to show off a little leg. You will see more brides embracing the tea length dresses, which will be the cutest wedding dresses and the perfect party dress for the reception. The shorter hem-lines were pretty popular in 2009 and this look is rolling right into 2010.

With color that is. Adding a hint of color to weddings was a hit in 2009 and that trend is headed into the New Year. In 2010 some brides will be bolder with their color scheme and you will see more color in weddings than ever before. For a Cool Event in Your Wedding Tent—Get A Portable Air Conditioner!

It’s not just the heat and humidity outside your enclosed, outdoor-wedding tent—or the steamy love fest going on between you and your new husband—that will have your guests guzzling down all the cold beverages they can grab and slowly stripping themselves of the their evening wear. The air temperature, DJ or band equipment, the fresh-from-the-oven food and the body heat of all your guests all work together to make it a hot time in the old tent tonight! I have four words for you—portable air conditioning, baby!

I imagine you don’t want to swelter and drip beads of sweat down your gown during your first dance either. If your tented wedding reception is set for a melting-hot month, a portable air conditioner is not merely a luxury—it’s a necessity.

GOOD THINGS TO KNOW…

when you shop for a rental tents and portable air conditioning. I did some research of my own. Here’s what I learned:

White event tents with clear, plastic windows may look more attractive to you, but they’re less efficient at keeping out the heat of the sun’s rays, so air conditioning should be strongly considered.
An insulated (or black-out) tent has a layer of insulation between the white tent fabric to prevent the transfer of heat through the tent wall, keeping the space somewhat cooler. Insulated tents may have a slightly higher rental rate. (As with all of your wedding needs, shop around!)
When shopping for your tent, you need to know the approximate number of people attending, if yours is a buffet or served dinner, whether you’re having a DJ, a band or neither and if you need space for a dance floor. This will help determine the square-footage you require.
A tented wedding venue with a seated dinner requires about 15 square feet per person.
A typical 40′ x 60′ tent, with a dance floor, has a seating capacity of approximately 150-160 people. (Capacity numbers may vary based on the tent company.)
A 40′ x 60′ tent requires at 20-ton portable air conditioner. I found a 20-ton portable AC with a weekend rental rate of $2,500, which includes delivery, set up/retrieval and a generator.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate!

What Not To Wear To An Outdoor Wedding

Sometimes the excitement of receiving a wedding invitation can quickly fade when you are perplexed about what to wear. Trying not to be overly dressed or too casual, the hunt for just the right outfit begins. But when you realize that it will be an outdoor wedding, many other factors must be considered—not just what goes well with those pumps! Here are some tips on how to handle the dress-code dilemma.

The Nuptial No-Nos

Avoid short, flowing skirts and dresses that can easily blow upwards and wear something long (such as a pencil skirt) and tailored instead. Windy beach weddings are notorious for untimely exposures.
Nix the high-heeled shoes that will sink into sand, mud or grass. Flats or stacked heels will be easier to maneuver on nature’s carpet.
If the wedding will take place at midday when the sun is at its peak, refrain from wearing dark suits and jackets that will attract and absorb heat. Lighter-weight clothing is a much cooler option. A jacket that can be easily removed will come in handy if the celebration lasts into the evening or the day turns warmer or cooler than expected.
Don’t wear hosiery, heavy makeup or chunky jewelry in hot, humid climates or you’ll melt.

Attire That Says “I Do”

A dressy linen pantsuit would be nice and cool for an outdoor wedding. Pair it with a chic, floral-print top, and your ready for a garden wedding, or with sassy flats for the beach.
Keep your summery yet sophisticated look by wearing sleeveless dresses, strappy sandals and glowing skin.
Just as important as WHAT to wear is HOW to wear your hair. Keep hairdos under control in hot weather with upswept styles that will remain neatly in place, no matter what Mother Nature dishes out.
For outdoor weddings, don’t forget the accessories. No, I’m not talking about jewelry and purses but umbrellas, sunglasses, makeup blotting papers (or powder) and an extra pair of flat shoes just in case.

Extra Tip: For destination weddings, selecting a knit dress that resists wrinkles will keep you looking your best when you arrive or after unpacking.

A Dynamic Outdoor-Wedding Dress Designer in the Desert

In Jennyvi Dizon’s hometown, you can have an outdoor wedding almost any day of the year. Rain is always possible in Phoenix, AZ, but highly unlikely. Their annual rainfall is about seven inches a year. Oh, and you might not want to hold your outdoor wedding in Phoenix during the peak summer months, when the temperature can hit 115°. But I digress.

I really want to talk about Jennyvi’s fabulous wedding gown designs. I “met” her when I answered her request for gift bag items.
